Tewaaraton Outstanding Native American/Haudenosaunee Scholarship

Each year, the Tewaaraton Foundation awards the Tewaaraton Native American Scholarship to one male and one female student.  The scholarship honors high school students of Haudenosaunee heritage who achieve academic excellence, and exemplify high character and leadership both on and off the lacrosse field. 

2023 Recipients

Wynter Jock, Wolf Clan-Mohawks of Akwesasne and member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe 

2023 PLL Tewaaraton Scholarship recipient Wynter Jock is from Hogansburg, New York.  She is a member of the Wolf Clan Mohawks of Akwesasne and a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe.  Wynter will soon be graduating from Salmon River High School in Covington, New York and will be attending at the University of Notre Dame later this year.  Wynter will be playing varsity lacrosse at Notre Dame, having been a team captain and a winner of section and national honors at Salmon River.  She is a member of the Haudenosaunee Nationals Women’s Team.

Vernon Cooke, Onondaga Beaver Clan

2023 PLL Tewaaraton Scholarship recipient Vernon Cooke is from Nedrow, New York.  He is a member of the Onondaga Beaver Clan.  Vernon is a graduate of LaFayette Junior-Senior High School in LaFayette, New York and will soon be completing a post-graduate year at the Salisbury School in Salisbury, Connecticut.  He will be entering Johns Hopkins University later this year.  Vernon will be playing varsity lacrosse at Johns Hopkins, having been a two-time team captain at LaFayette.
