AMERICAN BUSINESSMAN AND RACEHORSE OWNER SOL KUMIN JOINS THE TEWAARATON FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

WASHINGTON – The Tewaaraton Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of Co-President of Leucadia Asset Management Sol Kumin to its board of directors. 


A 1999 Johns Hopkins graduate, two-time Final Four attackman and recipient of the W. Taylor Cook Award for Outstanding Character and Attitude as a Blue Jay, Kumin currently serves as chairman of the U.S.A. Lacrosse Foundation Board, and sits on the Johns Hopkins University Lacrosse Advisory Board and the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust Board. Kumin is an investor in the Premier Lacrosse League and with the NLL’s Albany FireWolves, and has also found success as a racehorse owner, winning the Triple Crown with Justify in 2018, as well as a total of 12 Breeders Cup races, three Preakness Stakes races and two Kentucky Derby races.


In 2025, the Tewaaraton Award will be in its 25th year of recognizing outstanding college lacrosse players and celebrating the games of Native American heritage. The Tewaaraton Award is the preeminent award of one of the fastest growing sports in the US and the world, highlighted by its inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
